INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR

INTRODUCTION
The Agriculture, Agroindustry and Environment Working Group (AAEWG-IMT-GT) in Phuket, Thailand on May 30 – 31, 2008 fully agreed to establish The International Breeding Center for Cattle in West Sumatera, Indonesia.
The 3rd meeting of AAEWG-IMT-GT will be held in Bukittingi, West Sumatra, Indonesia on June 30 – July 1, 2009. To appreciate the meeting the West Sumatra Government provide some events namely the International Seminar, Livestock Expo and Livestock Contest.
This leaflet previously provide with information for the international seminar which will be held on June 28 – 29, 2009. The aims of the seminar are: (a). To expose the new development of the livestock biotechnology reproduction and their products among the IMT-GT sub-region countries, and (b). To exchange the knowledge of the livestock reproduction and their products among the IMT-GT sub-region countries.
The seminar will discuss about some topics such as: the development of the livestock reproduction technology, the animal products biotechnology, and animal breeding in Indonesia.
Developing countries including sub-region of South East Asia (SEA) countries are faced with the challenge to rapidly increase animal productivity to fullfill the need of the animal protein of their growing populations.
Among agricultural and allied fields, animal production and their product have probably benefitted the most from biotechnology. But successful application of biotechnology has generally been limited to developed countries.

Contributing speakers and poster presentations
Participants are invited to present their paper and poster relating to the topics. Information documented should be a result from research in relating theme. However, the seminar will be limited to a maximum 18 papers and 20 posters. Deadline of abstract submission is 25 May 2009. Submission could be done via email:

PARTICIPANTS AND REGISTRATION
The participants of the seminar are all scientists, graduate students, IMT-GT working group delegations, head of municipality livestock services, cattle breeder, cattle producer, trade representatives, etc.
The seminar will accommodate up to 100 participants, and interested participants should register by May 01 to June 15, 2009. Registration could be done by fulfilling the application form in the leaflet. The form can be photocopied as needed and should be sent to:
